PSJA ISD North Theatre Troupe named UIL State Champion

PHARR – Two Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Independent School District (PSJA ISD) theatre teams earned top honors at the University Interscholastic Leagues (UIL) State Theatre Championship Competition held on May 22, 2025, in Austin, Texas.

The PSJA North Early College High School Theatre Team was named the 5A UIL State Champion Theatre Team for the second year in a row, and the PSJA Southwest Early College High School was named the 5A UIL State 1st Runner-Up Theatre Team.

The UIL State Champion Theatre Team Award is the highest honor a high school theatre team can receive in the state of Texas. This recognition combines the results of students who advanced to the second level of competition in the UIL State One-Act Play, UIL State Film, and UIL State Theatrical Design. This comprehensive scoring system honors not only performance but excellence in all areas of theatre arts, including direction, design, technical skill, and storytelling.

These state-level honors demonstrate the talent across PSJA ISD, where students are empowered to pursue their passions and shine through creativity, collaboration, and dedication to the arts.

“We are incredibly proud of our theatre students and directors for this remarkable achievement,” said PSJA Fine Arts Director Jon Taylor. “To have two of our high schools recognized among the best in the state is a reflection of the talent, hard work, and dedication of our students and theatre directors.”

Congratulations to all our theatre students, directors, and families for these outstanding accomplishments!
