PSJA ISD Hosts 2026 All Abilities Walk and Scholarship Fundraiser

Event promotes inclusion and supports scholarships for special needs students

PHARR, TX – The Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Independent School District (PSJA ISD) hosted its 2026 PSJA All Abilities Walk on Friday, April 24, 2026, at the PSJA Stadium, bringing together hundreds of students, families, staff, and community members for an evening dedicated to inclusion, awareness, and celebration of students of all abilities.

Organized by the PSJA Special Education Department, the annual event highlights the district’s commitment to advocating for and supporting students receiving special educations services. During the event, attendees walked two laps around the PSJA Stadium, symbolizing unity and support for inclusion, awareness, and acceptance for all students.

In addition to the walk, families enjoyed informational vendor booths, parent resources, and interactive games in a welcoming and inclusive environment.

This year’s walk raised more than $21,000 through t-shirt sales and generous sponsor contributions. All proceeds will benefit the PSJA Education Foundation, which provides scholarships for graduating seniors receiving special education services, helping them pursue a higher education, promote their employment skills, or funds toward independent living to help them reach their fullest potential after high school.

As part of the event, the district awarded 13 AIM High Scholarships totaling $15,000 to graduating seniors who have been accepted into postsecondary institutions. Since the inception of the All Abilities Walk, the initiative has awarded 68 scholarships totaling $78,000.

“The biggest thing we are here to do this evening is celebrate our students and all of their different abilities,” said PSJA Special Education Executive Director, Veronica Quintana. “We are proud of each and every one of our students and we are always here to support them, whether that be continuing with college, learning a trade, entering the workforce, or practicing their independent living skills, PSJA is always here to help.”

The PSJA All Abilities Walk continues to serve as a meaningful tradition that brings the PSJA community together while promoting understanding, inclusion, and opportunities for all.
